The Baltimore International Seafarers’ Center was founded in 1993 by an Episcopal deacon, The Rev. Ed Munro, and his wife, Barbara Munro. In 2005, The Rev. Mary H.T. Davisson, an Episcopal priest, became the Director. She was named Port Woman of the Year in 2007. BISC also received extensive media recognition for their work with the special issues of the crews of the Snow Bird in 2008-10 and the Newlead Granadino in 2016-17. The Baltimore International Seafarers’ Center is affiliated with the Mission to Seafarers, welcoming and training qualified volunteers and staff on an equal opportunity basis. In 2018, our qualified ship visitors numbered 17, visiting 20-some crews weekly in about 15 terminals.
